In Partnership with Pure Obagi

We all have certain bugbears with our skin and are often trying to deal with a combination of problems; whether it is acne prone, you want to smooth out the appearance of fine lines, or you want to tackle UV, or environmental damage. Perhaps you have very sensitive skin and find it hard to find any product suitable for you.

We can either spend a lot of time and money trying out a variety of products seemingly dedicated to tackle specific issues, or we forgo using any product for fear of a flare up. But there are multi-tasking products that are suitable for all skin types…Yes, really.

If you look to science-led skincare, you’ll find products capable of taming, correcting and tackling your skin concerns and even delivering above and beyond expectations.

Obagi, for example, have been delivering clinically proven skincare products for over 30 years. Their products have been used in medical settings, specially formulated to tackle skin problems at a deeper level. Combining the scientific-based research and medical knowledge, they have created a non-prescriptive skincare range suitable for all skin types and concerns. It’s no wonder their products are so highly regarded and used extensively in skincare settings; The Harley Street Skin Clinic are such fans of their products.

Putting them to the test

Can they really deliver? We put the Obagi Hydrate Facial Moisturiser to the test to find out!

Hydration is the foundation of my skincare routine. I am fully aware that the leading cause of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is actually a lack of hydration (well, that and sun damage) so I never forgo a moisturiser- it would be my dessert island item. But I too have a myriad of skin issues, like most people. It’s acne prone, and as I am getting older I am noticing the skin tone and texture is changing with some UV damage thrown in to boot – despite using some form of sun protection daily.

The Hydrate Moisturiser uses a combination of proven ingredients designed to deliver hydration to the skin throughout the day, both at the surface-level and the deeper levels of the skin structure. Not only do these ingredients help to keep the skin smooth and supple throughout the day, but they also offer additional benefits. For example, Glycerin is, in addition to be being a hydrant, a brightening agent that can help to dimmish sunspots and UV damage. In addition, it is dermatologist tested, non-irritating, hypoallergenic and it has been formulated to ensure it won’t cause blocked pores – thank goodness! It really is all singing, all dancing and, importantly, suitable for all skin types.

I’ve been trailing this product for a few weeks now and I am delighted with the results so far. Thanks for the shea and mango butter, it is luxuriously creamy – without being oily or leaving a residue, and it melts beautifully into my skin. I’ve actually found that it has provided lasting hydration beyond the 8 hours it says it can deliver, which I am really pleased with.

I have also found it has helped to smooth out my skin, reducing the harsher lines that had been forming between my eyebrows and it is working as an effective base for my foundation and even providing longer wear out of my makeup. No doubt that’s down to the magical moisturising properties. Overall, I am really pleased with the overall feel and luminosity it is delivering. I too can see why it is now highly recommended and now, I wholly sit in that camp too.
