With the expected heat wave due for this weekends Bank Holiday (yippee!) it seems only right that this week’s recipe is dedicated to the BBQ!
We found this scrumptious recipe through the Waitrose recipe site and whether you’ve got family and friends over or simply want to relax, this Aberdeen Angus burger recipe will surely be a hit!
Juicy burgers topped with a lovely combination of Camembert and a piquant beetroot relish make the ideal dish for feeding friends.
Preparation time:15 minutes
Cooking time:30 minutes
Total time:45 minutes
150g cooked natural beetroot, grated
½ small onion, finely grated
½ tsp yellow mustard seeds
125ml balsamic vinegar
50g caster sugar
2 x 342g packs 2 Gourmet Burger Kitchen Aberdeen Angus Beef Burgers
2 x packs 2 Heston from Waitrose Brioche Burger Buns
½ Waitrose Sweet Cos Lettuce, shredded
100g essential Waitrose French Camembert, sliced
- First, make the beetroot relish. Put the beetroot, onion, mustard seeds, balsamic and sugar in a small saucepan and stir over a gentle heat until the sugar has dissolved. Increase the heat and simmer for 12–15 minutes, or until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Preheat the grill to high. Put the burgers on a rack set over a foil-lined grill pan and grill for 11–15 minutes, turning halfway through until nicely browned and thoroughly cooked through with no pink meat. Halve the brioche buns and toast the cut sides until golden.
- Divide the lettuce between the base of the buns and lay the burgers on top. Place some Camembert on the burgers, spoon over the relish and top with the buns. Serve with extra beetroot relish on the side.
Cook’s tip: The beetroot relish will keep in a covered container in the fridge for a week if you want to make it ahead of time.
