Across the world, dozens of cities epitomise the idea of romance. Whether it be spectacular views, world-class restaurants on the water, or simply make you feel more in love for whatever reason, you can find these cities everywhere.

If you are looking for somewhere to take that special someone, whether it be for an anniversary or a holiday, here are a few of the most romantic cities in the world.

Paris

This is no surprise, but Paris ends up on almost every “romantic cities” list. It has the food, the music, the culture, the views, and the history, all of which combine to create a city that is designed for love.
You’ll want to pack your travel money cards as there is something to do or see around every corner. Don’t forget; no trip is complete without a drink in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

Monte Carlo

If you have a bit more money to spend, as it can get quite expensive, Monte Carlo is a brilliant option for a weekend away. Monaco, where Monte Carlo is found, is a principality in France and is located on the southern coast of the country.

While the city isn’t huge in the slightest, you can enjoy a dinner overlooking the water or have dinner on a yacht as you float along the coast at sunset. Monte Carlo is the epitome of romantic luxury.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is for you if you are looking for beaches, beautiful water and waves, and a taste of the laid back surfer lifestyle. This gem of California has everything you need for a romantic beachfront getaway and so much more.

While you can spend the day on the beach and the evening watching the waves, Santa Barbara is still packed with restaurants, attractions, and more than enough sights to fill up a holiday.

Rome

While Paris may be the first thing you think of when it comes to romantic European cities, Rome is one you should never forget. This ancient city is packed with culture, sights, and of course, tons of delicious food.

What makes Rome so special is that no matter the time of year or how busy the city is, you can also find a quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine or a secluded dinner with your loved one.

Honolulu

Honolulu may not be a city you think of when it comes to romance, but that would be a big mistake. Not only is it easily one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but it has evolved into a tropical oasis that will leave you feeling like you are living in a dream.

Giving you both modern amenities and a jungle-like escape, Honolulu is the ideal place to unwind and take in the world around you, without a single worry.

Florence

Florence is another underrated city that doesn’t get near enough attention from people visiting Italy. With its narrow, cobbled streets, ancient buildings and houses and, of course, all the Italian food you could ask for, Florence feels like a city that takes you back in time.

While you can take a walk around the city or relax and have a coffee in one of the many cafes, what is more romantic than heading to a rooftop at sunset for dinner while overlooking the city?

Venice

While there is a chance you will have to compete with a lot of tourists, Venice is another city that oozes romance. Whether it be all the small restaurants and cafes located along the waterways or the many hotels that have balconies overlooking the city, Venice has you covered.

One thing you have to do is take a gondola ride around the city; not only is it very private, but you can pack a bottle of champagne and a picnic and make a day or evening of it.

Udaipur

One city you may not think about when it comes to romance is Udaipur. This gem of a city is found on Lake Pichola, and with the colourful buildings and soft lighting, you will feel like you have stepped into a fairytale.

While many may think that Udaipur is a bustling city, multiple pockets in Udaipur allow you to get away from the noise and have some quiet time with your partner.

Cape Town

Cape Town has been a popular tourist destination for visitors across the world for quite some time, and while many come for the beaches, food, and culture, the city offers a ton of romance too.

Whether it be a dinner overlooking Camps Bay or a romantic trip up Table Mountain, there are dozens of spots all around the city that are ideal for romance and love.

Edinburgh

Finally, if you want to get lost in an ancient city that still has buildings and sights from hundreds of years ago, look no further than Edinburgh. This cultural and historical centre in Scotland has good food, an even better atmosphere, and of course, that Scottish charm you just can’t find anywhere else.
