Garden living 2016 edition: Be inspired!

Posted on Jul 6 2016 - 6:49pm by Samantha Clark

I’m a bit of a sucker for garden furniture, accessories and decor at the moment, especially since moving into a new house. Like with decorating any room in the house, the garden lends itself to an entirely whole new creation. There is no standard template when it comes to what you can do with a garden space, big or small, the sky is literally the limit.

You may be inspired by what’s already there structurally or naturally or perhaps you’re able to envision something else entirely. Perhaps you’re looking for inspiration which is how you happened upon this feature. Whatever your dream garden may look like, we’ve selected some of our favourite accessories, furniture and ideas into one handy inspirational board just for you! We’ve included links to take you directly to the items that inspire you.

Oh and if you think you’re a bit late in the game to get your garden organised for this summer, you’re not at all, in fact, most of the garden decor items are on sale so if anything you’re the winner here!

We’re a little in love with the Coastal theme this summer when it comes to dinner/service wares. Blues and crisp clear whites are classic but any pastel colours would also be most appropriate. If you like the John Lewis Coastal plates outlined below but looking for something a little more cost effect, George have some really lovely pieces at reasonable prices!

When it comes to themes outdoors, I do love the oriental theme- soothing, classic. So a lot of my inspiration for outdoor decor comes from the east. Top tip: If you spent quite a significant time in your garden, it’s well worth investing in a citronella infused candle (like the one below) bugs and pests can’t stand the smell which means a peaceful time outside! Oh and if you’re looking to bringing the outdoors in, I strongly suggest investing in the terracotta tray like the one from Homebase below, you pour the water for the plants into this and it’ll soak up what it needs as and when. If you want to jazz up your terracotta pots, see our creative section below for ideas!
