Don’t let rainy days spoil your fun. There are plenty of other things you can do indoors to keep yourself entertained and inspired. Try some of these!

Indoor entertainment

Don’t think of nasty weather as an obstacle – think of it as an excuse! Take the chance to indulge in all those activities you wouldn’t usually have the chance to. Why not:

  • Have a movie or TV marathon: Is there a movie franchise or TV series you’ve been meaning to try? Sit down, get comfy and get started. You could even rewatch some old classics if you’re in the mood for a bit of nostalgia.
  • Play games or do a puzzle: Get away from screens for a bit and challenge yourself with some board games or a tricky puzzle. Alternatively, fire up your favourite game, whether it’s online bingo or something more niche, and play to your heart’s content.
  • Dive into a good book: Set yourself up in a cosy reading nook with blankets, pillows and a hot drink. Start that new book you’ve been meaning to open or finish something you’ve just not had the time to.

Creative projects

While it’s pouring outside, why not get the creative juices flowing inside? You could try:

  • Arts and crafts: DIY projects, painting, drawing, scrapbooking, knitting – there are plenty of things you can try with some spare time. You may not be a pro straight away, but learning is all part of the fun.
  • Cooking or baking: Experiment with new recipes to push you out of your culinary comfort zone or bake your favourite treats for something to nibble on later. If not for yourself, make things for other people to enjoy!
  • Writing: Give yourself a pen and some paper or a notebook and see what happens. Journalling, poetry and creative writing can be incredibly effective for expressing and processing your thoughts.

Learning and development

You could always take the time spent indoors to expand your knowledge or improve certain skills. Have you ever thought about:

  • Taking an online course: There are plenty of free and paid courses out there to help you learn new things or develop your skills. It could be video editing, blog writing or something related to your career. See what takes your fancy!
  • Learning a language: ¿Sabes lo que esto significa? Knowing another language can feel like a superpower (that was Spanish if you didn’t already know). Start with a few keywords and phrases and work your way up to something more complex. Spanish, French, German, Mandarin – try whatever you like.
  • Listening to educational podcasts: Platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify have seemingly endless libraries these days. Perhaps you could take a deep dive into history or learn about where humanity is heading. Or listen to whatever else sparks your curiosity.

Got some ideas? Good. Make the most of your rainy day indoors!
