Next up in our AGL awards, we want to pay homage to our skin saviours. These are the products that not only help to protect and keep our skin healthy but additionally enhance beauty. Over the past year we’ve tried a whole range of skincare products and these are the best of the best.

Cleanser

Clarins cleansing foam

A cleanser that not only completely removes makeup effortlessly, but actually leaves your skin feeling clean without stripping and will keep spots at bay. The Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser does it all and goes a remarkably long way giving you value for money too.

Splash your face with warm water to activate the cleanser and make it easier to distribute; apply a pea sized amount of product in an upwards circular motion and for best results remove with a muslin cloth which gently exfoliates as it goes.

Eye Makeup Remover

Vichy Purete Thermale

Regardless of your cleansers capabilities, it is always best to use a makeup remover specifically for the eyes; this is because the skin in the eye area is particularly delicate and can damage easily. The best removers are the activation ones because they can tackle waterproof and lasting makeup. In particular, Vichy’s Purete Thermale makeup remover is a star buy in our opinion; it removes your eye makeup; regardless of what it is (glitter, mascara, eyeliner) effortlessly. Simply apply the makeup remover onto a cotton pad and hold onto the eye with light pressure for 5 seconds, after this time, gently sweep the pad away and take all traces of makeup with it. Additional benefits of this product are, it is perfect for sensitive skin and it conditions the lashes as it goes helping regrowth.

Toner

Elemis toner

Personally, I don’t see a need to use toner every night but when my skin is stressed or I’ve been wearing excessive amounts of makeup, I need that extra cleanse. Toners are essentially additional cleansers that can really get into the pores and give them a good clean; if you’ve problematic skin or wear quite thick foundation, using a toner after a cleanse is highly recommended.

In particular we LOVE Elemis’ Balancing Lavender Toner; not only does it get rid of the nitty gritty but you can feel the extra clean. If you’re prone to breakouts or have sensitive skin the lavender is super calming and will help to alleviate redness almost instantly; the scent is also a pretty dreamy way to head off to sleep.

Eye Cream

Anew clinical eye lift

Like with our cleansing ritual, we need a cream specifically for our eye area. As the upper lid is prone to sagging (boo!) and the under eye is prone to dehydration- giving us that awful early onset ageing look- we need something that can tackle both of these problems. Unsurprisingly, once again, Avon’s Clinical Lift & Firm eye cream tops the lot! It really is a wonder cream and at exceptional value for money.

Moisturiser

Hydra Essentiel

It hasn’t been around for long but Clarins Hydra Essentiel Silky Cream is the best in our eyes and it’s perfect for this time of year. This moisturiser is specifically formulated to tackle hydration issues; a lack of hydration in our skin can have an accelerated ageing effect that this cream can reverse.  Environmental factors, ageing, diet and a number of other areas have an effect on how our skin performs. This cream not only gives it an immediate boost of hydration but it triggers the skins natural ability to hydrate, giving lasting hydration all day long. What’s more, with a broad spectrum SPF, it helps to protect it from the suns powerful rays all year long.

We’re also particularly fond of its fresh scent too!

Serum

Double Serum

Clarins tops the lot once more with its new Double Serum. Simply, it’s a luxurious serum that works deep into the skins many layers to help combat the effects of ageing. Simultaneously it brightens the complexion, smooths out fine lines and wrinkles, hydrates the skin and firms; instantly and visibly changing the construct of your skin and face.

For best results, use morning and night with a facial massage technique so that you can really work the product into the skin allowing it to get to work most effectively.

Night Cream

Infinite Effects

Science truly wows us in Avon’s Infinite Effects rotational night cream. Targeted anti-aging treatments can be drying and somewhat harsher on the skin, particularly if skin is quite sensitive. This new product from Avon, which you alternative week on week, will at once tackle hydrating the skin helping it to look plump, fresh and brighter and in the following week, with its targeted treatment, work on combating and even reversing the effects of aging.  But unlike most anti aging treatments highlighted above that actual dry the skin in the process, because of the hydrating foundation level, this product helps to protect and even enhance the anti-aging treatments effects; delivering swift and consistent benefits to the skin that you notice almost immediately.  Truly blew our minds.

Neck & Decollete

Sarah Champan Neck and Chest

Much like our eye area, the skin around our neck and decollete is thinner and more fragile. If we use our regular creams on this area, which are generally focused around intense hydration, it can actually quicken the look of aging on the skin, simply because it is too much.

There is no better cream than Sarah Chapman’s Neck & Chest Rejuvenation Cream. This lightweight formula hydrates the skin instantly, reducing fine lines and reversing early signs of aging.
