Since Cara Delevingne came onto the fashion scene, we’ve all gone eyebrow crazy. Now, it’s one of the first things anyone will notice about you and often if you’re feeling a little disheveled you’ll focus on them too. They hold such prominence on your face that it’s no wonder we’re obsessing so we looked to the eyebrow experts, Benefit cosmetics for a Q and A on how to get fabulous looking brows that suit you!
Why you shouldn’t I shave my eyebrows?
Generally women tend to do this as they feel they don’t have enough hair running through their brows which makes them feel it’s not worth keeping and decide to remove by shaving and draw on their brows. However in my 10 years as a makeup artist and beauty therapist, a little hair can go a long way when it comes to styling and re-shaping the brow, having even just a few hairs help to add texture which will make the brow look more full & natural when using brow products.
What shape suits me best, how would I change my shape and when should I do it?
Keep your eyebrows as natural looking as possible, both in shape and thickness. As this will ensure your brow regrowth is not unmanageable.
When thinking of changing brow shape keep the above in mind and only tidy the borders of the brow, slightly lifting at the brow arch to help open the eye area.
How can I enhance my look with makeup?
Benefit cosmetics Gimme Brow is the perfect way to enhance and complete your makeup look. This coloured gel contains tiny microfibres that mimic the appearance of real hair providing volume and a natural definition throughout your brows.
When should I visit a salon and what can I do to manage my brows at home?
On average brows should be shaped every 3 -4 weeks at a brow bar.
Managing your brows at home will depend on your brow project which you will discover in your benefit brow consultation. For example if your brows have been over plucked in certain areas the advice given would be to not touch your brows between waxes, so your brows have a chance to revert back to a fuller shape.
In terms of managing finding your perfect brow shape at home; you can do this by holding a pencil parallel from the inside of your nose. Meet the top of the pencil to the inner corner of the eye – the inner edge of your brows should start here.
To determine the highest peak of your arch; place the pencil at an angle from the outside corner of your nose through the centre of your iris.
Holding the pencil diagonally from the outside corner of the nose to the outside corner of your eye, this will then tell you where your brow should end.
