We’ve become masters of convenience, especially when it comes to our food shopping and eating habits. We tend to shop based on our cravings or out of a need to eat, often only thinking of the one meal. With the average household spending £470 a year on food that ends up in the bin, contributing to the 9.5 million tonnes of food waste in the UK alone, planning our meals can not only help us to save some serious money, but it can help you to reduce your environmental impact.

In our Autumn edition magazine, we look at the ways in which you can reduce your food waste with lots of tips to get the most out of all of your food purchases. By planning your meals ahead, week by week, you can make the most out of all of the items you buy and those that are sat waiting to be used in your fridge, freezer and cupboards. Nothing will go to waste. Plus, it can help you to be more inventive with your food, you can plan a night to work from a new recipe and learn lots of new skills and experiment with lots of new flavours too. It may even stir a new passion for cooking.
