Let’s be honest, there is little appeal to spending time outdoors in a British winter. Where other countries at least get a sprinkling of snow, our winters are mostly soggy and incredibly windy (it’s not to say we don’t get some nice days or evenings, but it’s pretty rare). It’s no wonder we all retreat inwards at this time of year. But heading indoors doesn’t mean forgoing experiences. Here, we showcase some of the most interesting, unique and picturesque places to visit for an incredible food experience. Whet your appetite with these treats.

Unity Sky Lounge

Food Experiences to Try

Located on the top floor of Unity Place, the new vibrant and sustainable hub in Milton Keynes (opened Summer, 2023), you’ll find Unity Sky Lounge, an expansive rooftop bar and restaurant that boasts an al fresco terrace nestled amongst the greenery and beautiful views of the city. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a wintery landscape, without having to brace the blustery cold whilst enjoying a menu that features the finest dishes from British produce and a selection of signature drinks, including seasonal cocktails.

Relish in expertly crafted plates using only the finest ingredients from around the British Isles; providing a dining experience that is equal parts adventurous and comforting. With an array of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes, highlights from the menu include Devon hand-picked crab salad with apple and cucumber; Isle of Wight tomatoes with olive oil, sourdough and salt; Braised Berkshire pork with tomatoes, red wine and honey and Cured duck ham with asparagus and rapeseed emulsion. For those with a sweet tooth, you’ll find a selection of mouth-watering desserts including Lemon posset with vanilla shortbread; Torched peach with mango and tarragon, and Chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream, roasted white chocolate and honeycomb.

Seven Dials Market

This is a food court like no other; inside you’ll find a selection of exquisite tastes from around the world, whatever your fancy, you’re sure to find something (well several) things that are sure to whet your appetite. Particular highlights include Pick & Cheese; the world’s first cheese conveyor belt with expertly chosen pairings, both sweet and savoury; Club Mexicana, a 100% vegan restaurant that is known for its ‘bangin’ flavours with dishes like Cheezerburger Tacos and stuffed Short Rib Burritos, reviews rave about the meaty quality of the dishes and how flavourful and generous the portions are; and the newest addition ‘Rice On’, where Chef Ra curates classic Korean bowls, all from recipes that have been passed through generations and honed to pack a high kick.

With plenty of divine choices and flavours, as well as a bustling and atmospheric dining concourse, Seven Dials Market should definitely be on your culinary hit list.

Gaucho

Dinner and movie, a classic combination for sure. But at Gaucho, on Threadneedle Street, London, their Film Club means you can enjoy dinner with a movie and the courses have been specially curated with the film, and, more specifically, the scenes on screen, in mind. Previous evenings have included Harry Potter, Pulp Fiction, and Crazy Stupid Love. At £65 per head, it may sound steep but the general reviews rave and by the sounds of the volume of food and drink served, actually exceptional value. Plus, it makes for quite a unique and remarkable experience you’re sure to want to shout about.

The PERFECT date night experience 🍿 The Gaucho Film Club is only in their Charlotte Street branch and you can book online. It’s £65pp and I think the price is super reasonable considering you get four courses, five drinks and popcorn, all alongside a movie experience. They’re also showing Wolf of Wall Street on NYE 🎥 #london #londontiktok #thingstodoinlondon #gaucho #filmclub #datenightideas #londonrestaurants #foodie #fypシ
