The general feel and tone for SS19 was that of rebellion.

There was Alexandra McQueen’s display of lace, traditionally regarded as a delicate fabric, that appeared shredded with leather accents and chains for accessories; Chloe, traditionally a brand associated with romanticism, that had a warrior esque/tribal appeal to their latest collection; with shredded fabrics sometimes intertwined with a neutral palette and clean lines, and fringing on short dresses reminiscent of the 60s. A reminder of that huge shift in position, ambition and fashion.

Change is a universal thread at the moment; in politics, lifestyle and the workplace, and our clothing is as much a statement of current mood as it is about personality. So, if you’re looking to continue the fight for change, this season is open to it.

When it comes to finding your look on the high-street, these are the current themes:

 ‘Life’s A Beach’

It sure is! So, we’re heading back to the 90s for inspiration when it comes to this trend.

Tie dye and bucket hats are back as are movie poster t-shirts (as seen at the Calvin Klein Raf Simons show). Mix it up with some neoprene skirts and jackets, and don sportswear to your hearts content. Then grab that surfboard and go chill down on the beach.

 ‘Loving Lace’

It’s not all frills anymore; lace is actually suitable for all attire, all the time. From just a taste of lace in the trimmings to full lace outfits, there is something out there to suit your style whatever it may be.

 ‘Folk Off’

It wouldn’t be summer (particularly a festival) without a bohemian, folksy vibe to it. We’re talking crochet dresses and skirts, full length floaty dresses, endless fringe, quilted jackets and paisley prints- though head to the dark side on this one this year.

‘Clashing Prints’

Everything goes when it comes to print this season; animal, floral (never dies), colour blocking etc. Even mixed together. We’ve seen it all and actually, it looks great. The moto here is: If you don’t think it goes, it goes great.

‘Get Stoned’

We’re talking stone wash denim. Loved in the 80s, this bright, bold and flattering colour of denim is back in and we’re back in love. And as short shorts are in too- try and pair them together, especially if you’re heading to Coachella or Glastonbury this year.

‘Tone It Down’

Although Spring/Summer is traditionally a season of vibrancy (and in some respects it still is), the colour palette for SS19 has appeared to have toned right down. We’re looking to mink, oatmeal, light camel, champagne and stone.

I don’t know about you, but I am all ready to jump into a season of change. I just need a wardrobe refresh to reflect the mood. How about you?
