With the expectation of more lovely weather yet to come, Summer is far from over. So get out and enjoy the weather, the longer days, the last bank holiday until Christmas and the entertainment whilst you can. We’ve rounded up some activities we’d highly recommend to make the most of it!
Take some time out at Bath Thermae Spa
In summer it seems we’re at our busiest. We’ve occasion upon occasion, event after event and not forgetting at the BBQing and beach days we’re trying to cram in between. So make sure you take some time just for you to escape the everyday and the mass calendar blocking to just sit back, relax and unwind. We particularly recommend the Bath Thermae Spa for this activity because the roof top pool is always a welcome treat- bask in glorious sunshine, absorb the calming and healing heated water and get lost in beautiful scenery.

Take a trip to a secluded beach
On a particularly brilliant day, there is nothing better than a trip to the seaside. Except, that’s an idea EVERYONE has had and by the time you get there there’s barely any space to pitch yourselves for the day. Either that or the closest beach to you is pebbled so not great for resting or it doesn’t present the best views- Severn Estuary anyone?! You kind of wish you hadn’t bothered. Well, the UK does present some of THE most beautiful beaches in the world AND there are hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. It may mean a bit of a journey but it’ll sure be worth the wait! Take a look at this article from the Guardian on the best quiet beaches , Wild Swimming for the best hidden beaches and this Daily Mail article which looks at tropical beaches within the UK. Make sure you check tide times before heading out to make sure you’re prepared and safe!
Throw a soiree!
Make the very most of the longer days and lasting sunshine by throwing a soiree! Encourage everyone to dress up, serve hors d’oeuvres (think italian feast- toasted soda bread with oil and balsamic dressing for dipping, mozzarella, parma ham, olives, figs, pickles, salami etc.) and signature cocktails- if you want to be more relaxed pop open a couple of bottles of prosecco and jugs of pimms. For entertainment, play soft jazz or if you want to be a bit more lively, anthems of the 80s and 90s will get everyone up and dancing. If kids are invited, set up a gaming and movie station either in the garden or in a side room (some of the adults are sure to get in on this too!) and just enjoy every ounce of sunshine and the company you choose. Pick up some pretty napkins and plates that are still dressy but saves on the cleaning up to make the most of it.
