Following our introduction to knitting piece, we’ve partnered with we are knitters once again to help us build on our knitting skills. This time, we’re going to make crochet Easter baskets!
These will make for cute gifts for your children, nieces, nephews, godchildren etc. filled with little chocolates or mini eggs! Great for little egg hunts around the garden or for decorations around the home.
For this project, you will need:
- 1 skein of The Tape – in a colour of your choice
- 1 x 7mm crochet needle
Step 1: crochet the magic ring
Start by working 6 single crochets into the magic ring

Step 2: increase your stitches
Round 1: increase 1 in each stitch. You will have a total of 12 stitches.
Round 2: *1 single crochet and increase 1 *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. You will have a total of 18 single crochets.
Step 3: work in the slip stitch
Round 3: *work 1 slip stitch through the back look into each stitch*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. You will have a total of 18 single crochets.

Step 4: build on your slip stitches
Rounds 4-6: *work 1 slip stitch into each stitch*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. You will have a total of 18 single crochets.
Step 5: creating a crochet chain
Chain 18

Step 6: forming your handles
Skip 9 stitches, insert the crochet hook into he next stitch to form the handle of the basket, and close with a slip stitch.
