In need of a holiday or just a few days away, with your friends, your family or as a romantic escape – we have picked out a few places you can go to relax, recharge, and get pampered.
Is there anything better than watching the sun set over the ocean with the one you love? Not really. How about doing this every day of your little holiday and then returning to your comfortable little cottage for two?
Pendeen Lighthouse lies six miles north of Land’s End, right on the headland of the Cornish Coast.
You can walk the South West Coast Path right outside your lighthouse cottage and enjoy all the fresh air and freedom you have missed lately. It’s the ideal place to relax and unwind together, to enjoy nature, watching the birds and seals on the coast, and to recharge your batteries.
While they are former lighthouse keeper’s cottages right by the sea, they are modern and beautifully decorated as self-catering holiday escapes. There are a few towns around if you want to eat out, and even Penzance is just a short drive away.
After a stressful year as a family, it’s time for all of you to relax. Away from your own four walls, you want to treat yourselves to a little holiday you will all enjoy.
Calcot in the Cotswolds is the perfect place for you and your kids to get a change of scenery and indulge in all the fun we haven’t had lately. You can relax at the spa while the children go to the Playbarn (for the little ones), or Aladdin’s cave (for the older ones), and the kids can even join the baking workshops.
If you are travelling with a baby, everything is available so you don’t need to travel with all the gear and there’s a creche on site as well.
Once you’ve all had some fun, go for a beautiful walk together, enjoy the pool and spa during family hours, or retreat to your family pod for some quality time.
Get away from the city and head to the Yorkshire Dales.
Nestled between the valleys and hills is the National Trust Swallow Cottage, a reconverted 18th century farm building which is now a beautiful 3-bedroom cottage with a fireplace, wood-burner, and exposed beams.
You can spend your days walking around the National Park, spend a day visiting York (just 30 miles away) and its Minster, try local pubs, and relax at the cottage, where you could have a barbecue together in the beautiful, peaceful surroundings. You will also have access to the National Trust’s stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
Leaving the city for a country escape is a dream, but not always doable. There are however ways to relax and recoup without leaving London.
While there are a number of options, if you want a true escape, head to Ushvani in Knightsbridge. This is founder Usha Arumugam’s first spa project and the result of four years of research to create this escape to Asia. From the décor to the treatments, this place will transport you to the heart of a Malaysian spa (with a detour in Bali for a massage). You can enjoy massages, facials and treatments as well as relax in the pool or steam room which are reserved to women. Before braving the busy outside world again, take the time to sit and relax in the tearoom.
We are all in desperate need of some real quality time with our besties and what better way to do so then to rent a beautiful lodge together for a weekend or a week and reconnect, having fun together at the house, relaxing, and going to the spa?
Stoke by Nayland Resort has beautiful, contemporary, eco-friendly accommodation perfect for the occasion in Suffolk. They are self-catering, so you can cook as friends and focus on spending time together instead of running out to eat all the time, and it is the perfect way to feel safe as a small, secluded group.
A great alternative to a lodge stay would be to indulge in a relaxing spa break with treatments, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and pool, before enjoying some great food in the on-site restaurants and a cosy night in the hotel.
Both the hotel and lodges lie in the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you are certain to relax and unwind in the best possible company.
