As the evenings begin to get darker and the weather gets colder, it can be easy to start feeling down. Trying out some new beauty treatments is a good thing to look forward to and can be fun to experiment with.

Waxing

Hair removal is very personal, and everyone has their own preference as to how to do it. If you do choose to remove your body hair, waxing could be a great option for you. Waxing is an effective way to remove hair as it removes it from the root, meaning it takes much longer to grow back compared with shaving. Opting for hot waxing, done using a waxing kit, not only leads to less regrowth but also makes the regrown hairs finer, reduces the chance of ingrown hairs, and means you won’t suffer with shaving rash. Winter is the perfect time to give waxing a try, especially if you are conscious of growing your hair out in between sessions. If you are new to waxing, it can be useful to start with an area such as legs to see if you like the results before moving on to more sensitive areas like the bikini line or underarms.

BIAB

The latest must-have in the nail world is a Builder in a bottle (or BIAB) manicure. Unlike traditional gel manicures, BIAB does not need to be removed with every manicure and instead is infilled, similar to acrylics. However, unlike acrylics, BIAB is applied directly to natural nails. BIAB has been widely praised by those who struggle with growing their natural nails, as it has allowed many to finally achieve healthy, natural nails. If you are wanting to grow and strengthen your natural nails this winter, give a BIAB manicure a go!

Dermaplaning

For many, the start of winter signifies an increase in dry skin. The change in temperature and coming from cold outdoors to warm indoors can cause the skin to significantly dry out. Dermaplaning is a technique where the skin is exfoliated using a sharp scalpel. Doing this not only removes dead skin but also removes fine facial hair known as peach fuzz. By removing the top layer of your skin, you are left with softer, brighter skin as a result. As this involves the use of a blade it is advised to get this done professionally, at least to begin with for safety purposes. It is also important to continue to protect your skin during this time and always wear SPF.

Lash lift

Lash lifts are pretty self-explanatory from their name; lashes are semi-permanently lifted and curled so they appear longer and fuller. Particularly popular with those who have naturally straight or south-pointing lashes, lash lifts are a great way to enhance your lashes. Many people choose to go for a lash lift and tint at the same time and ditch the mascara, lash curlers, and falsies completely!
