When you next head to the supermarket, be sure to pick up a 6 pack of beer. Not for enjoying on a summers afternoon, but for your hair! Beer is full of nutrients that can induce hair growth, volume, and overall improves the quality of hair.

The key ingredients in beer that helps improve your hair quality are malt and hops, which are forms of vitamin B. These ingredients help to repair damaged hair and reduces hair loss by nourishing the hair cells. Other ingredients such as sucrose and maltose sugars are able to tighten and strengthen hair cuticles, which leaves hair incredibly shiny. The addition of silica thickens hair and adds volume.

Additionally, the popular beverage holds nutrients such as phosphorus, copper, magnesium and iron. They each contribute to creating healthy hair, leading hair growth and preventing hair loss. They tackle a dry scalp and improve the luster and quality of hair.

Shiny Hair

Beer can help make hair healthy, shiny and beautiful!

You can easily create your own hair treatment at home by mixing flat beer, lemon juice and raw apple cider vinegar. Check out our ‘recipe’ below to find out how!

You’ll need:

  • 1 bottle or can of beer
  • 3-5 drops of lemon juice (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (optional)

Step 1: Pour the beer into a jug and leave overnight

Beer contains carbon dioxide, which can make hair harder to wash and appear tough and tangled when mixed with water. By exposing beer to air, it will oxidize and release the carbon dioxide.

Step 2: Add the lemon juice

Lemon can increase hair’s strength and shine, while preventing dandruff by balancing scalp pH levels.

Step 3: Add apple cider vinegar

This helps to smooth out hair and prevents the rough and brittle feeling of dry and damaged hair. Using raw vinegar will provide more benefits as it holds more nutrients and enzymes. It can help to restore your scalps PH levels.

Step 4: Wash your hair with shampoo and use the beer formula as conditioner

Lather the formula into your hair and scalp and massage for 1 minute.

Step 5: Rinse

The treatment works best if you don’t fully rinse the beer out of your hair, and towel dry afterwards.
