If you’re looking to reinvent your style with each party you attend this year, we’re here to help. Our 2015 Christmas beauty guide will make you the belle of the ball without breaking the bank for each new party!
Getting ready to go out is the best, it’s the perfect excuse to take some much needed time and have a good-ole pamper. But it’s not just about getting in the right mood, the prep stage actually can make all the difference to your look. I thoroughly
recommend giving yourself a bit of a facial before a night out (try 2-3 days before the big night if you have sensitive skin) as it’ll allow you to thoroughly cleanse your skin and buff away any dead skin cells which will give your make-up a better base to hold onto and give you a bit of a natural glow.
Whether you’re an occasional or a constant foundation wearer, we strongly recommend the Estee Lauder Double Wear. It’s magic in a bottle. It’ll hide any and all imperfections, give you an even skin tone, provide an incredible base for your make-up and it simply won’t budge no matter what you do. It’s also quite a hydrating formula so it’ll feel really nice and lightweight on your skin.
My new favourite beauty product out there has to be Benefit watt’s up! highlighter. Alone it gives you a soft, healthy looking glow that we all crave this time of year. If you want additional definition, use your bronzer brush and buff along the cheekbones- don’t add any additional bronzer to the brush. To use, apply the cream based highlighter along your cheekbones and sculpt with the built in blender- it’s a gorgeous champagne colour that’ll look fantastic with any look you choose to go with.
The Mii Couture Eye Colour compact is stunning. Infused with iridescent crushed pearls you can create a whole host of looks with just this one product, it’s all you and your makeup bag will ever need.
Chantilly a champagne pink with sparkles aplenty. Use alone as a soft-tone eyeshadow that’ll sparkle where the light catches. Perfect if you want to go for a statement lip rather than eye. To combine, use this colour as your base and highlighter. Using the enhanced applicator, apply baroque from the lash line, blending upwards to the across your brow line. It creates a soft base when creating a smoky-eyed effect and when it catches in the light you can see the shimmering, iridescent effect of the pearls. With any eyeshadow, it’s best to start lightly and build on the colour if you want more (this collection is perfect for layering).
Chiffon is a light purple colour that should be worked into the crease of the eye. Start from the middle of the eye and work towards the outer eye working the product in with the applicator, moving backwards and forwards to blend in the colour.
Using Damask, the dark purple colour, and the very tip of the applicator, work the colour into the lashline, as close as you can possibly go. I do like to work a bit more of this product into the outer eye for some extra definition and I also find it makes the eyes pop a little more.
Finally, using the gorgeous Baroque gold glitter, press the applicator into the colour (it is a little more loose than the other colours so pressing is essential) and work the gold into the inner eye, across the lid to the middle of the eye. Using the end of the applicator, take the colour into the corners of the inner eye and lower lash line for ultra pop. We equally love this product on it’s own, so don’t be afraid to lavish it on and just sparkle.
Whether you wear the colours individually, which creates a statement in itself or layer for a smoky, shimmering effect, whatever the occasion, this gorgeous compact can take you there. It really is a fairy godmother in a cute little box.
For the liner, Benefit They’re Real! liner is easy to use, gives the illusion of bigger eyes and has extreme staying power. The soft AccuFlex™ tip makes applying the gel liner so easy, you’ll not know how you got along without it- makes a change from having to paint the gel on with a brush that you’re forever cleaning, all this is a thing of the past with They’re Real! You’ll be able to get closer to the lash line and either have a nice thin lash line contouring the eye or you can build on it to get a bolder look. You’ll also find that creating the Feline Flick is completely effortless with this by your side. Thank you Benefit! Work the nib from the outer lash inwards, finishing in the middle of the eye.
Follow up with Benefit They’re Real! mascara for vavavoom lashes and you’re set to go! With staying power, all. night. long.
If you’ve gone for a statement eye, I’d recommend finishing the look with a glossy look. For this, I’d strongly recommend Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream which’ll make your lips look plump and luscious and will keep them ultra hydrated.
If you’re looking for something with a little more colour. I’d recommend a frosted gloss such as the Bobbi Brown shimmer gloss.
I think that the Baroque gold would team well with a deep berry matte lipstick like we found on Pinterest through Make up with Cari.
At this busy time of year, we struggle to find the time to keep up with our mani’s and with party after party, occasion after occasion, we need something that’s going to do the work for us.
Jessica Nails, have solved all our problems in Phenom. This relatively new range dries faster than ordinary polish (touch dry within minutes, feels completely dry in no more than 30 minutes), sets like a gel polish (high-shine) without the need for UV lighting and can last up to 10 days. What’s more, it’s easier to remove than a gel polish and will come away quickly with ordinary nail polish remover. With 30 colours to choose from, all you need is a base-coat suited to your nail condition, your colour of choice from the Phenom range and finish the manicure up with Finale Shine top coat. We’re super impressed with this range; with it’s superdry abilities and stay power. It’s the holidays best friend! Our favourite colours for the party season are: Adore Me 003, Crown Jewel 034, Embellished 031 and Well Bred 015.
