Styling our hair can be a big factor in how confident we feel and a big part of our identity. Maybe this is why hair issues are one of the most common things people are looking to tackle in beauty and cosmetic treatments. In this post, we’ll cover five of the most common hair problems and how they can be improved to help you feel more confident.

Hair loss

Hair loss can occur for a variety of reasons ranging from poor nutrition to psychological factors such as stress. If you have a family history of hair loss, then genetics could also play a role in why you’re losing hair. The good news is that treatments for hair loss have come a long way and you can access a range of treatments to improve bald or thinning patches of hair. Your doctor might be able to prescribe a treatment for hair loss depending on the cause.

Thin hair

If you have thinning hair rather than more extreme hair loss, then cosmetic procedures could be a good option to help you get thicker hair. Cosmetic procedures such as hair transplants are a great option to consider in improving the look of your hair. You can also try using spray on hair colour to help fill in small patches of baldness.

Dandruff and itchy scalp

One of the most common hair complaints that people struggle with is dandruff and dry, itchy scalps. Luckily, this is relatively easy to treat yourself from home. There are specific shampoos and hair treatments available on the market to help with combatting dandruff and moisturising the scalp to reduce dryness. It’s also worth considering if any new products you have started using could have caused you to develop a dry scalp.

Dry or brittle hair

If you frequently use heated tools to style your hair or you’re washing it very frequently, then this could lead to it becoming dry and brittle. To help improve the condition of your hair, try investing in some good hair masks or even making your own. You could also try using cooler water to wash your hair and consider if there are heatless ways to style your hair the way you like. If you have a lot of damaged ends in your hair, it can help to have a little bit of length taken off to give you healthier-looking locks.


On the opposite end of the spectrum, many people can struggle with too much oiliness in their hair. This can make hair difficult to style and cause people to feel self-conscious, even if they’re frequently washing their hair. There are a number of ways to help improve an oily scalp, however. Surprisingly, washing your hair too frequently can actually cause your hair to become oilier. Certain shampoos can even make the problem worse and leave an oily coating on the hair, causing it to get greasy faster. Try using more high-quality shampoos and conditioners to help reduce how often you’ll need to wash your hair. You could also try using dry shampoo to help prevent oiliness from developing as quickly in your hair.
